SUMMERLAND PESTICIDES STORAGE
New 780 mt2 agro-industrial building (to replace the existing storage to be demolished) for AAFC-PSPC. The building is located in the experimental AAFC croplands, adjacent to the Okanagan Lake, and will allow for research and testing of new pesticides. The structure is primarily concrete slab on grade, steel columns and open web steel joists that support the roof. The exterior walls and canopy extend beyond the building footprint to provide additional coverage, while the semi-covered area allows a space to fill the tractor with the products to be tested in the field.

RADIO CHEMISTRY LABORATORY FIT-OUT
Renovation to accommodate radio chemistry lab in levels 1 and 2 of an existing 5-storey building for a private client. The new 633 mt2 facility is dedicated to radioisotope research for cancer treatment applications and falls under hot lab category per CSNC guidelines. The main challenge was handling shielding application weights and lack of space throughout the building to accommodate MEP equipment needed for a fully functional lab. This resulted in adding a new platform in an interior double-height space which triggered a series of upgrades under Part 11 of VBBL 2019.

THERAPEUTICS LABORATORY FIT-OUT
Renovation in a level 2 suite of an existing building for a private client. The new 420 mt2 research lab facilities complement existing offices in the space next door. An open layout was proposed to maximize the available natural light, through a combination of fixed and mobile lab casework.

BIOTECH MULTI-TENANT BUILDING STUDY
Analysis of a proposed 6-storey building (designed by others) to be built on top of an existing 6-storey parkade. The study's purpose was to recommend alterations to the original design on how to better accommodate multi-tenant spaces for small to medium size biotech companies. Six alterations were proposed; with the most important being increasing the height at all levels and re-distribute service and mechanical shafts. The alterations are highlighted in red.
